How much does ELP Foundations cost?

Tuition for ELP Foundations is free. 

Will ELP Foundations appear on my transcript?

TGS 509: Foundations of American English and Academic Culture is a non-credit course and will appear on your transcript with a grade of either S (Satisfactory) or U (Unsatisfactory).  There is no tuition for the course, and it will not affect your GPA or course load.

I want to stay on-campus when I arrive in early September. How do I apply for graduate student housing?

Students who wish to live in Engelhart in the academic year must fill out a Graduate Housing Application and return it to the Graduate Housing Office in Spring.  Please visit the Graduate Housing page for more information

When is the program? How long does the program last?

Our online course, Foundations in American English and Academic Culture, runs from June 24 to July 26, 2019. On-campus events take place in early to mid-September. Exact dates will be announced later in the Spring.

I am bringing my spouse, partner and/or family members with me to Northwestern. Can they enroll in the course and attend the on-campus events as well?

Only students who are nominated by their departments are eligible to enroll in our online course. However, spouses, partners, and children of ELP Foundations students are encouraged to attend the September social events.
