Eligibility for ELP Services

Who is eligible for English Language Programs Services?

The Graduate School Cohort: PhD and MFA students and students enrolled in a TGS masters program are eligible for all ELP Services. All TGS graduate students must enroll in ELP services using our online registration process; students are not permitted to audit. For open enrollment group classes, students will be give a permission number to use in CAESAR to register. For all other services, students who apply through our online registration system will be manually enrolled in the course on CAESAR and will not need a permission number.

Postdoctoral Fellows and Visiting Postdoctoral Fellows are also scholars of The Graduate School and may register for ELP services as auditors. Postdocs also need to to enroll through our online registration system in order to reserve a space in our services.

Affiliates:  All other members of the Northwestern community who have a NetID (affiliates) may enroll in Linguistics 483-Supported Online Speech and Language Training, and may sign up for one-on-one help through our Tutoring Office hours. Affiliates include Northwestern faculty, staff, graduate students in masters programs that are not overseen by The Graduate School, undergraduates, research associates, visiting scholars, visiting pre-doctoral fellows and all other Northwestern affiliates with a NetID. 

Community members: Spouses and family members of students and the general public are not eligible for ELP services. Please see our additional resources page for information on programs for family members and for the general public.
